Good luck with the search this week. Whether you’re looking to jump into a new role or just keeping an eye on the market, stay sharp and take care.

And i got my first entry-level drilling spot by calling the yard at 5:45 a.m. and asking for the toolpusher the same day the listing went up — these are “posted in real-time” and vanish fast, so “apply promptly” means call, not just click. If you don’t have H2S or Safeland yet, show up with FRs and steel-toes and offer to take the site class that shift; some crews will comp it if you’re ready to work.

Timing helps, but what sealed it for me was asking the safety guy to let me sit in on their H2S/PEC brief that morning… > offer to take the site class that shift; some crews will comp it if you’re ready to work. That’s exactly how I landed a water transfer spot by nightfall. If you miss the dawn call, swing by 30 minutes before crew change with FRs, steel-toes, and your fit-test card.

When I was starting out, I found that visiting the site beforehand and chatting with the crew helped a lot; they appreciate seeing genuine interest. Plus, don’t underestimate the value of asking questions — that’s how I learned the ropes quickly — anyone else had a similar experience?
