I’ve been working on optimizing our drilling fluid compositions, especially focusing on viscosity and density control to improve flow paths. Has anyone here experimented with specific additives or techniques that significantly enhanced the performance during different phases of drilling? I’m keen to share insights and learn from your experiences.
I’ve found that using a combination of xanthan gum and polyethylene glycol can really boost viscosity without adding too much weight. It’s worked well for me in maintaining flow, especially during the lateral drilling phases. Have you looked into the effects of temperature on your fluid properties yet?
This drives me nuts too! I’ve had decent luck using a blend of guar gum for better viscosity control along with some surfactants. It seems to help with the flow paths, especially during the initial drilling phase.
