At 02:15 on Pad B we had a near-miss when a wireline hand crossed the cones during a 6,500 psi pressure test. Effective immediately, no one enters the red zone without radio clearance from the frac van and a designated spotter — supervisors, confirm roll call before every stage and report back here if your crew needs adjustments to make this stick.
Night tip: spotter wears a red strobe; gate sign says ‘No radio, no entry’ — carry an air horn backup.
Building on @s_davies1990, what finally stopped our night crossers was a reflective swing-chain at the red-zone entry and a physical “green token” the spotter hands over only after radio clearance — no token, no step, like a little velvet rope for the pad. We also keep a whiteboard at the van to tick names as they pass in/out, which makes roll call quick without clogging the channel. Small caveat: stash a spare chain and clips at Pad B because mud and cold chew them up fast.
